Welcome

Welcome on my personal Website HistAero.ch !

Born in December 1948 at the Bider*-Strasse in Bern, I spent my youth in the Liebefeld, municipality of Köniz. My interest in aviation sparked in me at the beginning of the 1960s: as a member of a Cockpit Club and Aircraft Recognition Bern, founder of the “Air Berne” Fan Club, correspondent for “Aviation Letter” and “Jetstream” and contacts to the “Fuchtel-Club”; airplane photography started to be the main hobby of mine.

The assignment to an early warning radar unit, and an employment by the Federal Air Office during my studies in the early 1970s, formed the start of a military and professional career, which I concluded in 2008 as a Lieutenant-Colonel of the Swiss Air Force Staff, and in 2010 as the Representative of Switzerland on the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal.

The centennial of Swiss aviation has revived my interest in the history of air transport in this country and lead to publishing regular editorial articles and compiling several aviation data collections. The website has the purpose to make this historical research data accessible to a wider circle of interested people.

Enjoy reading and do not hesitate to comment, complement or correct my findings.
